Music For Your Mood

I love music! I listen to everything from classical to heavy metal. The problem is: I’m not so good with names. I can remember what the song is about (sometimes) but mostly, I remember the feeling that it gives me.

Making playlists for my WIP can be difficult. Not only because of my poor memory, but each scene has its own theme to me. Examples: flashback scene = retro music (Have you listened to New Kids On The Block lately?), alpha male scene = normally Toby Keith but I do have others that I like, stong heroine = something that makes you strut when you walk (Finger Eleven, anyone?) okay, you get the idea. So, my most recent WIP is about a woman who has to go back to her hometown and face the ridicule of her past. My crappy memory has made this difficult.

There needs to be a search for songs where you can put things like: girl loves jerk, and get a list of songs that this occurs in. It would help me out a lot!

What’s your favorite mood music? And what’s the name of that song from the 90’s that I’m looking for?

  1. Funny, but I can’t type to music. It throws off my concentration. When I’m not writing, however, I tend to listen to anything rock.

    • We know, you listen to Bert, that is all! Anything else is substandard for you. 😉 Thanks for dropping by.

  2. I have to listen to music all the time, no matter what I’m doing, music is a part of it. I’m pretty versatile, but I stick to my heavy metal and hard rock. Although lately I’ve had this weird craving to listen to George Michael’s Freedom!, Culture Club’s Miss Me Blind, and Depeche Mode’s Shake the Disease. Weird.

There was a website I found a while back that you could browse songs by theme. It was pretty cool although it didn’t have nearly as many songs as it could have. I’ll have to see if I can find it for you. Also, what you could do is google a few of the words from the song and see if you can find it that way.

    • Thanks, Danica. You’re always so helpful. If I could remember the real words to the song, it might help. I’m bad about misunderstanding the words too!

  3. http://www.songfacts.com/categories.php I found it! It isn’t the most comprehensive list, but it’s better than nothing. 🙂 Hope that helps!

    • Cool site! I’m already loving it.

  4. I can write in the middle of chaos happening around me in the family and house activity but I can’t listen to music and write. odd that eh?

I love Adam Lambert. He was American Idol second place last year.

My music tastes are very all over the place from classical to hard rock. go figure!!!

You have a very lovely blog!

    • Adam ROCKS!!!!! I loved him from the beginning (my hubby, not so much). Okay, now I’m drooling.

      Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
