Anouncement: Impending Reveries

The long-awaited day is finally here! Impending Reveries has been published!

Talyn has always had vivid dreams, but when she noticed the people, places, and events from her dreams happening around her, she wondered if she’d gone insane. Until she met Joseph. He was everything she’d dreamed of for years, literally, and when she learned that he’d dreamed of her too, things changed. What they had were more than dreams. They were Impending Reveries.

Join Talyn and Joseph as they search for the truth behind their dreams and the meanings that they hold, all the while, also searching for something even greater. Their own happily-ever-after.

Facebook Causes Flashbacks

Facebook is a place to reconnect with old friends and embarrass them by showing the world pictures they were hoping to never see again. At least that’s what MY friends and family do.

What they don’t understand is I don’t need help embarrassing myself. I do it on a daily basis. Looking back over my blog stats, you enjoy it when I do this and I’m here to please. 🙂

This was my first wedding. I was 18 and an idiot. My step-daughter saw this on Facebook, where a lovely friend was kind enough to tag me. Her reaction (after she stopped laughing): “That’s the ugliest dress I’ve ever seen. What’s that on your head? Is it supposed to look like that?”My sister was kind enough to post this one of me. Yes, I know, those pigtails make me look like a Cocker Spaniel. And why am I wearing that? Do you see the look on my face? That’s me having a premonition of all the comments this picture would receive on Facebook.

Tell me, do you have wonderful friends and family who do this to you?

Stuff Happens

Have you ever noticed how stuff happens when you’re trying to live life? It seems that when you are moving forward in life, something always happens to slow you down. My problem is, it wasn’t just one thing. “Stuff” has been piling on top of me so fast that I’m unable to move without making things fall apart.

This is how I feel:

Do you see the person under there? Well, that would be me. Or should I say that was me. You see, I made a decision that some people might not approve of. I decided that moving forward is more important than all of that “stuff” piled on top of me. If life falls apart because of me moving forward, someone else can pick up the pieces. I’m tired of carrying it all.

So, this is my getting back to life post. Any of you want to join me?

Good Intentions Down the Drain

My recent blog about getting back to my online stuff had me really excited. I was truly looking forward to reconnecting. But, alas, fate had other ideas.

What has happened in the past week:

  • A death in the family
  • Hubby’s back went out
  • 12-year-old acting like he’s 2
  • And the bleeping phone company has been working on the bleeping lines which means no internet!!!

So let me just say AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, what I’ve been doing despite all of that:

  • Getting my new story plotted out (it’s almost ready to be written)
  • Since I’ve heard back from all of the submissions (rejections), I’ve been tweaking Impending Reveries and getting it ready for the next round of submissions
  • Catching up on my TBR pile
  • Visiting with family 🙂
  • Fighting with Hubby about doctor’s orders 😦
  • Trying to convince 12-year-old to act his age

So, if I’m unable to get back to you for a while, don’t think I’ve forgotten about you. I’m still here. Gathering more gray hair by the minute.

What have you been doing?

Tag, You’re It

I’ve been TAGGED! My wonderful blog and twitter friend Candyland has tagged me.

So here is how the game is played. There are 5 questions and you must answer each question 5 times and then TAG 5 people to play. So here I go…

Question 1: Where were you 5 years ago?

  • Having a nervous breakdown (really, not funny)
  • Working 16 hour days at the grocery store that I owned (thank God that’s in the past)
  • Trying to figure out how my cute little baby turned into the mouthy 7 year-old that frequently told me that I didn’t know everything
  • My hair was REALLY short
  • Wishing for Calgon to take me away (far, far away)

Question 2: Where would you like to be 5 years from now?

  • Best selling author
  • Touring Ivy League schools with my son
  • Living in a house with a LARGE basement to lock my hubby in (he wants this too)
  • Traveling the world “researching” my next book
  • Enjoying the way my cute clothes look with my new boobs

Question 3: What is (was) your to-do list today?

  • Blog (YAY! I get to cross that one off!)
  • Doctor’s appointment at VA for hubby (hoping he doesn’t curse the doc out this time)
  • Sam’s Club shopping *groan* with hubby *BIG groan*
  • Try not to fight with hubby in the 3 hour car ride
  • Relax?!? (tell me again, what’s that word mean?)

Question 4: What 5 snacks do you enjoy?

  • Crackers topped with cheese in a can (you can draw faces!)
  • Pecan Pralines and Cream (ice cream IS a food group)
  • Pizzeria Pretzel Combos
  • Peanut M&M’s
  • Fresh Fruit (I know, it clashes with the rest of my list)

Question 5: What 5 things would you do if you were a billionaire?

  • Build my hubby a house with a LARGE basement
  • Buy a beach house for myself
  • College fund (or bail money) for my son
  • Get a laptop (PLEEEEEASE! I really need one!)
  • Vegas, Baby!

Changes

I’ve been re-evaluating some things in my life and have decided to make some changes. Don’t worry, it’s nothing bad. In fact, I think you might like some of the changes.

I found myself looking at my blog and thinking, I wish I could blog more. I have so many ideas that I push to the side because I only blog on Monday and Thursday.

Then I had an epiphany (okay not really an epiphany, I should have figured this out a while back), I CAN blog more often. My schedule is not written in stone. I didn’t sign a contract in blood stating that I could only blog twice a week.

So, without further ado, here is the change that will affect you all:

I will blog 5 days a week!

Monday thru Friday, stop by for your daily cup of coffee and pearls of wisdom (or to laugh at my stupid sense of humor).

WIP’s – What was I thinking?

Due to a dream that I had recently, I pulled out my WIP list. Just the number of files on this list had me worried. There are more stories than I have fingers! How did that happen?

My creative process is simple: I get ideas while I’m sleeping. Writer’s block? Time for a nap! It should come as no surprise that many stories are forgotten as new ones fill my head, but I had no idea there were that many!

After I got over the shock of the length of my list, I opened the first one to remind myself what it was about. Good hook in the first paragraph, I like the characters, then BOOM, the story got weird! I don’t mean wierd in a good way, I mean a “What was I thinking?” weird.

Personalities became fuzzy, the story was all over the place, and one sentence was written in gibberish. It appears that my fingers shifted on the keyboard without me noticing and I kept writing. It took me a while but I finally translated that sentence. It still didn’t make sense, but at least it was in English.

The delete button became my best friend. I don’t know if there is any chance to save this storyline, but I’m going to try. I have learned my lesson though. When my eyes get droopy and my thinking gets cloudy, I will step away from the keyboard.
